Biographic Note
Josh serves as the Technical Director for the Gibson Center for the Arts as well as an instructor for the Department of Theatre and Dance teaching courses in the Design and Production specialties. He also serves as the resident designer for the department. Previously he served as the Technical Director at Eastern New Mexico University where he also taught the design and production courses.
Josh has spent almost 30 years working in some capacity in the performing arts and has done every job, (yes even some acting) that there is in theatre at some point during these last three decades. His passion for teaching the next generation of artists comes from the belief that knowledge does no good stuck in your brain, it needs to be shared to be effective. He has designed lights, sound, special effects, sets, and costumes, served as stage manager, production manager, dramaturg, box office manager, director, and more on a range of shows for various groups and productions. He has worked with national tours, regional and local theatre, as well as independent artists in concert. His work also includes several play festivals and a variety of community events each year.
Research Interests
Josh has a passion for new technology, including designing with LED lights and has an interest in outside-the-box set designs. While he loves the classics, the real challenges come from the growing body of new plays.
