Major: Biology
I'm a veterinary neurologist working in a multi-specialty and emergency veterinary clinic in RI. I care for dogs and cats (and occasionally rabbits, ferrets and zoo animals) with brain tumors, seizures, herniated discs, spinal disease and nerve disorders. Following veterinary school at Cornell University, I did a one-year general internship in Washington State and then a 3 year residency in neurology in Arizona.
Favorite Professors and Classes
Definitely the biology department at the time — Dr. Verville, Dr. Connaughton and Dr. Ford. Any of those classes were my favorite!
Fondest WC Memory
Helping found and competing on the Equestrian Team. I also really enjoyed the non-science classes I took "for fun" in the music and history departments!
Let's Hear It for the Liberal Arts
Solid foundation in the sciences and my thesis helped me learn how to critically read and compose scientific literature.
Advice
Study abroad if you can; one of my biggest regrets that I did not. Also to branch out and try different classes or paths that you weren't sure you'd be interested in, you may just find something you love!
