Center for Career Development

The Center for Career Development is your partner on campus in getting ready for the launch of your professional career, starting from your very first semester when all students engage with the Center through their first-year seminar. Staff at the Center work with you on all aspects of preparation for your unique career path, and thanks to their support and faculty mentors, you can take on your future with confidence.
Career center staff help students in a comprehensive way, beginning with self-assessment and career exploration. Center staff guide students through strengths assessments and thoughtful reflection on their interests, then begin to help identify potential careers that might be good fits.

Once students have identified interests, strengths, and potential careers, Center staff work with them to create a professional online presence, such as a LinkedIn profile, and help with putting together a resume.

This builds to Center staff helping students identify externship and internship opportunities, then conduct practice interviews and otherwise assist with applications. The Center for Career Development provides support, through both advice and funding, for many students who pursue internships that align with their interests and allow them to build on their depth of knowledge and experience.
As graduation nears, the career center can help with either a job search or graduate school planning, giving every student invaluable support to reach their next goal after commencement. In fact, the career center will provide similar support to alumni as well, so Washington College graduates can return at times of career transition for more assistance.
Through holistic and dedicated support from the career center and others, our students graduate with incredible résumés that make them strong candidates for the jobs or graduate programs in their field.
