Washington College recently received another accolade: it has been named one of Scholarships360's 2025 Top Colleges for Affordability. This distinction places Washington among an elite group, with only the top 8 percent of over 1,800 eligible colleges making the cut. Notably, Washington College stands alone as the only private liberal arts college in Maryland to achieve this recognition.

This achievement underscores the College's unwavering commitment to making a high-quality education accessible to a diverse range of students. It further solidifies Washington College's position as a top 100 Best Value School, a distinction awarded by U.S. News & World Report last fall.

Washington College offers a robust array of scholarships and financial aid programs to support aspiring scholars. With over $170 million dedicated to scholarship endowment, 100 percent of incoming students receive institutional aid, including:

  • Guaranteed Merit Scholarships: Every admitted student receives a significant merit scholarship, ranging from $32,000 to $37,000 per year. This substantial financial support serves as a cornerstone of the College's affordability commitment.
  • The Washington Scholars Program: This prestigious program caters to admitted Maryland and Washington, D.C. residents who are high-performing students who have demonstrated a commitment to growth, a willingness to help shape the future of the College into a richer experience for all students, and financial need. It offers full tuition, fees, room and board, and enriching experiences such as cultural excursions and mentorship opportunities.
  • The Presidential Fellows Program: An invitation-only program for high-achieving admitted students, it offers substantial scholarships, including the prestigious George Washington Signature Scholarship, which covers full tuition. The selective Francis Waters Scholarship is also available to Presidential Fellows and offers up to $5,000 for tuition scholarship.
  • Honors Fellowships: These unique programs offer financial support alongside exclusive opportunities for academic and personal growth. Opportunities include:
  • The Cincinnatus Scholarship, which supports admitted students interested in the intersection of religion and American history;
  • The Constance Stuart Larrabee Scholarship, which supports admitted students with proven talent in visual art, music, dance, or theatre;
  • The Eastern Shore Society Scholarship, offered to admitted students who hail from Maryland's Eastern Shore, or who are of Eastern Shore heritage, who are interested in a major in environmental science or studies;
  • The Environment & Society Fellowship, which supports admitted students interested in exploring environmental science;
  • The Eirik A. T. Blom Ornithology Scholarship, supporting admitted students who have experience as birders, wildlife enthusiasts, or conservationists;
  • The Sophie Kerr Scholarship, awarded to admitted students interested in English, Creative Writing, or Journalism, Editing & Publishing;
  • The Tim Maloney Theatre Scholarship, which supports admitted students who possess a love of theatre;
  • The Quill & Compass Scholarship, which supports admitted students who are interested in exploring History, Political Science, Communications and Media Studies, Pre-Law, or American Studies;
  • And the Toll Fellows Program, in which admitted students interested in assisting faculty with their research can obtain stipends and supply budgets for their work.
