Professional Experience

Kimberly McCollum is a professional violinist who regularly performs and solos around the Mid-Atlantic region. Ms. McCollum received her Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from Boston University and her Bachelor of Music in String Performance from The Florida State University (magna cum laude.) She holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in Music in the state of Maryland and teaches over 250 strings students in the Anne Arundel County School System. She is also a Lecturer in Music at Washington College, where she teaches several courses including string orchestra, chamber music, applied violin/viola, and music methods.

Ms. McCollum is the concertmaster of the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and performs with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, Annapolis Symphony, and other regional orchestras. Her teachers include Peter Zazofsky, Eliot Chapo, and Jeanne Majors. In addition to her formal music education, Ms. McCollum has studied at the Chautauqua Institution in New York and has performed as a member of the esteemed (AIMS orchestra) the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Ms. McCollum has been a member of various orchestras throughout the east-coast including the Civic Symphony Orchestra of Boston (Associate Concertmaster) and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has performed with the North Shore Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, and the Jacksonville Symphony.

Ms. McCollum also is an active scholar, regularly presenting at the American String Teacher’s Association National Conference and other regional conferences. She lives on the Eastern shore of Maryland with her husband, daughter, and their golden retriever.
