Professional Experience

Dr. Woobin Park, renowned for her commanding stage presence and refined musicianship, made her Carnegie Hall debut to critical acclaim. The New York Concert Review praised her "brilliant performance, handling virtuosity with a beautiful sense of style." She has performed extensively across the United States, France, and South Korea, appearing in solo, chamber, and orchestral performances at prestigious venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Terrace Theater at the John F. Kennedy Center, Steinway Hall in New York, and Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center.
 
Dr. Park has collaborated with renowned orchestras and performed as a soloist with the Ukraine Philharmonic Orchestra in 2023, showcasing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto and a Mozart concerto. She also appeared with the Annapolis Symphony in the Masterworks Series at Maryland Hall and the Music Center at Strathmore. Her international career took off after winning First Prize at the Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, where she also received the award for "Best Performance of Liszt’s Work." Additional honors include top prizes from the San Nicola di Bari International Piano Competition, the University of Minnesota Concerto Competition, the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music, and the Elinor Bell Competition in Minnesota, where she was awarded a $15,000 cash prize.
 
A native of Seoul, Korea, Dr. Park earned her Master of Music and Performer’s Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington, studying under Edward Auer and Shigeo Neriki, and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, under the guidance of Distinguished McKnight Professor Lydia Artymiw.
 
In 2013, Dr. Park signed an exclusive recording contract with "The Great Courses" to collaborate on the project The 23 Greatest Solo Piano Works with Professor Robert Greenberg, Ph.D. Her live performances have been broadcast nationally on WFMT in Chicago, KSJN in Minneapolis, and WBJC in Baltimore. She has performed with the renowned Formosa String Quartet, Mid- Atlantic String Quartet and worked with faculty from leading conservatories. A passionate advocate for contemporary music, she has premiered works by composers such as Julie Giroux, John K. Leupold II, and French composer Correntine Bossier. Her solo recital at the Seoul Arts Center Recital Hall in 2019, featuring the world premiere of John K. Leupold II’s piece, was funded by a prestigious government grant from the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Korea.
 
As an adjudicator, Dr. Park has judged major piano competitions, including the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Competition and the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations (CFMTA) National Piano Competition. Her recent adjudications include the Robert Spencer Piano Concerto Competition and the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association (NVMTA) Concerto Festival.
Currently, Dr. Park serves as Director of Piano Studies and Associate Professor of Practice in Piano at Washington College, where she teaches applied lessons, class piano, and has developed a course in piano pedagogy and literature. Since 2018, she has co-directed the annual Washington College Piano Festival, which includes workshops, competitions, master classes, and recitals by distinguished guest artists.
 
Her recent performances include a return engagement as a soloist with the AACC orchestra at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Maryland, where she performed Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. A highlight of Dr. Park's performance is her duet with David Kim, concertmaster of the prestigious Philadelphia Orchestra. Together, they have performed Brahms’ Sonata, Stravinsky, John Williams, and other important composers during tours of Asia and the United States.
