Undocumented and DACA Students

Undocumented and DACA students are eligible for many types of financial aid.

Are DACA and undocumented students eligible to attend Washington College?

Yes, all students are eligible to apply for admission regardless of their citizenship status.  Washington College welcomes and supports students without regard to their immigration status.

Are DACA and undocumented students eligible for merit scholarships?

Yes, all students who apply to Washington College are automatically considered for merit scholarships regardless of their citizenship status.

Are DACA and undocumented students eligible to receive need-based financial aid at Washington College?

DACA and undocumented students can apply for need-based aid at Washington College.  All DACA and undocumented students who reside in Maryland can submit the MSFAA (Maryland State Financial Aid Application).  All DACA and undocumented students (both those who reside in Maryland and those who do not) can submit the International Financial Assistance form along with international students.  Please note that any DACA and undocumented students who reside in Maryland must first submit the MSFAA before completing the International Financial Assistance form.

What if my parents don't have a Social Security Number?

Your parents do not need to have a Social Security Number (SSN) to fill out the MSFAA (need-based aid available to students who reside in Maryland) or the International Financial Assistance Form (need-based aid available to non-citizens of the US). 

Are DACA and undocumented students eligible for student loans?

Although DACA and undocumented students are not eligible for federal loans, private loan providers may be an option. Bear in mind, students may need a co-signer who is a resident to be eligible for private loans.

Are DACA and undocumented students eligible for federal work study?

DACA and undocumented students are not eligible for Federal Work-Study, but they may be hired as a student worker on campus if they have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) and authorization to work.
