Outcomes
After graduation, many Biochemistry and Molecular Biology students go on to graduate school, professional school, and research labs. Students are prepared for career opportunities including, but not limited to, biomedical research and other health professions. Many of our courses qualify as pre-requisites for the MCAT and other pre-health professions. Washington College also has partnerships with outside institutions for post-graduate work.
External Partnerships
- Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., offers several master's degree programs related to the biomedical field, from bioinformatics to tumor biology, plus an option for a supplemental biomedical policy concentration. Georgetown's Biomedical Graduate Education offers a scholarship for Washington College graduates.
- Students interested in pursuing a career in Athletic Training may streamline their career training by matriculating from Washington College to the Bridgewater College Master of Science in Athletic Training Program (MSAT). The biochemistry and molecular biology major is a good fit to prepare for this program, although students also work with a pre-health advisor to ensure they complete the proper prerequisite courses. Students interested in the program may apply via Bridgewater’s Early Acceptance Option as a junior or via the Guaranteed Consideration Option as a senior
