About the Director

Photo of Dr. Rachel RodriguezDr. Rachel Rodriguez (she/her) earned her PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisville in 2021, her MA in English from the University of Maine, and her BA in English and Spanish from McDaniel College. She comes to Washington College with experience administering the writing centers at the University of Louisville and Chesapeake College. Her research interests include writing centers, composition pedagogy, translingualism, language difference, and basic writing. She has taught composition, basic writing, rhetoric, literature, business writing, and SAT test prep.

 

About the Peer Writing Consultants

Jocelyn (she/her) is a junior Biology/Pre-Veterinary major with minors in Chemistry and Business Management. While she has a special place in her heart for biology and chemistry lab reports, she is excited to work on any kind of writing project! In her free time, Jocelyn loves reading, binge-watching shows with her roommates, and hanging out with her pets. After WAC Jocelyn plans to attend veterinary school to become a large animal veterinarian. 
Jaya (they/he) is a junior and an English and Theater double major with a minor in Creative Writing. They are the poetry editor for the school's literary magazine, the Collegian. They are excited to help out with any project in the writing center, but especially love to work on creative writing. They enjoy poetry, gothic fiction, and magical realism. After college, they plan to work in the theater in as many disciplines as they can, and have a background in acting, directing, playwriting, costume design, sound design, set construction, and stage management.
Riley (she/her) is a senior majoring in English with minors in Journalism, Editing, and Publishing, Communication and Media Studies, and Gender Studies. She is also the Editor-in-Chief at the campus' newspaper, The Elm. This is her third year working at the writing center and loves when she can chat with students about their assignments to help them understand and organize their ideas. When she isn't reading books about women for class or wearing cute outfits, she can most likely be found defending Amy March from Little Women or watching a reality dating show with friends. 
Maddie (she/her) is a senior majoring in Communication & Media Studies with minors in Marketing, Hispanic Studies, and Psychology. Outside of the Writing Center, she's a George's General, business president and publicity manager for WACappella, and member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Her biggest loves (in addition to the Writing Center, of course) are pickles, Taylor Swift, the Despicable Me franchise, and the daily New York Times games. 
Mattie (they/them) is a junior and a History and Art History double major. They love writing and all sorts of writing projects and are very excited for their first year in the Writing Center. In their spare time, Mattie loves reading about whatever historical event catches their interest, listening to music, and playing video games. 
Annabella (she/her) is a sophomore History major with a passion for Creative Writing. You can often find her taking part in activities with the Starr Center, watching silly (read: emotionally devastating) cartoon shows, or staring off into space.  
Quinn (he/him) is a Junior and an English major. He's looking forward to his second year tutoring in the Writing Center! Quinn also intends to minor in Creative Writing and Art/Art History, and he likes to read, draw, and watercolor when he has free time. 
Grace (she/her) is a senior English major with minors in gender studies, creative writing, and journalism, editing & publishing. She is Editor in Chief of Washington College Review, a copy editor for The Elm, Social Media Manager for Collegian, and the creative nonfiction screener for Cherry Tree. In her free time, Grace enjoys crafting and watching teen dramas. 
Faith (she/they) is a senior at Washington College, majoring in Communications and Media Studies and Theater. Along with that, she has double minors in Journalism, Editing, and Publishing and Creative Writing. Around campus, Faith can be found working as an usher or as Prop Shop Manager in the Gibson Center of the Arts or in the Radio Free George station in Hodson as the Station Manager.

Jessica (she/her) is an English major with a concentration in JEP. She also speaks Mandarin Chinese on an intermediate ABC level. Jessica believes that writing helps connect a person to both their identity and the world around them. She enjoys 18th-21st century literature and loves learning about language and etymology. Jessica is heavily involved in the theatre and dance department and is a member of the Women's rowing team. She enjoys reading and hanging out with friends in her free time.

Evan (he/him) is happy to be returning for his third year at the writing center! Evan is a senior biology and environmental science double major with a chemistry minor. Despite the science majors, he is happy to work with students on assignments of any discipline! When Evan isn’t at the writing center, he can be found in the theater department, TA’ing for a general biology lab, or with his cat Igor. 
Logan (she/her) is an English major and prospective JEP minor in her second year at WAC. She is a staff writer for The Elm, the managing editor of the Washington College Review,and the secretary of the writer’s union. She's always eager to talk about the writing process and to gain insight into how different writers work, but she's especially interested in exploring poetry and other creative pieces. Ideally, she’s always in a forest somewhere listening to mellow indie music, petting a cat with one hand and sipping an Earl Grey tea with the other.
Miranda (she/her) is a senior who is double majoring in Political Science and Communication. When she isn't in class or taking pictures at sports games, she is the Student Government Association President, a tour guide, and an avid duck lover. She is very excited to continue her work as a Writing Center tutor. Post graduation, she wants to further her education in hopes of becoming the President of the United States one day. 
Courtney (she/her) is a senior at Washington College. She is majoring in English and minoring in Secondary Education and Theater. She hopes to one day become a Secondary Education English teacher. She loves reading and writing, and has a passion for helping people. Though Courtney is most familiar with writing for the humanities, she is happy to work with students from a variety of disciplines. In her free time, Courtney loves watching movies and TV shows. She is also a member of the swim team here at WAC!
Sheri (she/her) is a junior majoring in English with a minor in Creative Writing. She's beyond excited to help her peers find their voice in both academic and creative writing! She enjoys essay writing and has a deep love for poetry. In her free time, Sheri enjoys music and if you want to have a productive session, don't mention Billie Eilish. 

Lessy (she/her) is a Biochemistry major with minors in Psychology and Public Health. She tutors Spanish courses.

Lucy (she/her) is a senior majoring in English with minors in creative writing and journalism, editing, & publishing. In addition to being a peer writing consultant, she is Editor in Chief of Collegian, a copy editor for The Elm, a poetry screener for Cherry Tree, and an interlibrary loan assistant in Miller Library. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and watching silly TV shows with her friends.
